Leyte Geothermal Production Field – 2nd and 3rd Campaign

Leyte, Philippines

The Leyte Geothermal Production Field (LGPF) is one of the largest wet steam fields in the Philippines. As part of a larger capital expenditure program, additional wells are required, and BAUER Foundations Philippines, Inc. was selected to carry out the Surface Hole Drilling and Conductor Casing Setting. The 2nd campaign consists of drilling ten (10) Geothermal Wells at a maximum depth of 150m and setting of 26in diameter conductor casing. The project was in six (6) different pad locations in Tongonan, under the municipality of Kananga in the province of Leyte, Philippines. Despite the challenges of drilling in hard strata and encountering high-temperature gradient profile, the project was successfully completed using BG40 Drill Rig with 90m Kelly bar and 12m extension.

Bauer has again been contracted for surface hole drilling and conductor casing setting in Negros and Leyte Geothermal Plant Production Fields under the 3rd Campaign. The project was successfully executed, with a total of nine (9) geothermal wells of 150m depth and 1200mm diameter installed.
