Foundation work for Hermosa-San José Transmission Line

Reliable future connections

The 500-kV transmission line project calls for the construction of 230 steel towers over an 83 km stretch, which aims to meet the transmission requirements of Metro Manila and Central Luzon. The project will provide long-term adequacy and reliability of connection between the NGCP grid and power plants that will go online in the future. Bauer Philippines was first commissioned in 2018 to provide foundations for ten steel towers. For this package, our experts constructed 40 bored piles of 3000 mm diameter and depths of 14-24 m with a BG 30 drilling rig. Despite access constraints, the project was completed ahead of schedule. Right of way issues due to agricultural land briefly halted the project. In 2021, Bauer Philippines was awarded with ten more steel towers with 15 m depth. These towers, located at least 300 m apart, faced challenges like busy roads, narrow town access and a minimum 10-hour concrete retention time due to distant batching plants. Using a BG 40 drilling rig, our experts completed the project successfully.
